Assume I measure the amount of fuel that is going into the engine.  However, not all of that fuel is used.  Some of it is returned to the fuel tank... so how do I know how much fuel the engine is _actually_ using.  Is there a system that measures both of those values and can determine how much fuel is actually used?

Other makes can have 3x the consumption returning.
One thing to watch for is
Some names i have seen Maretron, Garmin GFS-10, scintex, navman 3100
return fuel needs to be temp compensator.
