About the Adventure Talk

Ken and Carol Gillstrom built an aluminum cutter in their backyard for 15 years in Barrie Ontario. In 2012, they embarked on voyages, alone and with eager learning sailors, determined to broaden their cruising horizons. With great anticipation and wonder, they made way to new and interesting places aboard the sturdy, well equipped, Voyageur 10.10.  Despite the precautions they take and the preparations they make before leaving, there is always a dash of uncertainty; an uncertainty inherent to the world of offshore sailing.

Over 60,000 miles from Canada to Caribbean, Europe to Galapagos and Alaska through the Panama, unexpected anxious moments have been few compared to the unexpected pleasurable ones! The Gillstrom's never expected to happen upon such beautiful places, joyous happenings and wonderful experiences throughout their travels. No cruising guide informed them of their most favorite places or enjoyable episodes along the way.

These memorable unexpected encounters have spanned the spectrum between simple, awesome, wonderful and philosophical. They have filtered through their consciousness via all their senses. Ken and Carol will share these with you in their Presentation: Sailing Away: Expect the Unexpected.

Hear how their fun-loving nature and safety-first mind-set help them to confidently cruise the world. Inspiring audiences throughout Canada, you too will be encouraged to embrace the unpredictability of the cruising life.
