Purpose & Benefits:

• use the new generation of integrated radar which combine chart and radar technology

Instructor:

Kevin Monahan, an experienced captain, retired Canadian Coast Guard officer, and author of:

The Radar Book: Effective Navigation and Collision Avoidance.

Format:

Classroom style with extensive slides showing various types of radar screens and scenarios related to land observation, collision avoidance and clutter issues. With these real-life screen captures and other audio-visual effects, Kevin Monahan will soon have you managing your radar like a pro!

In order to be able to use a marine radar to advantage, users must first feel comfortable with their equipment. Many are afraid to adjust their radar's controls for fear they will never be able to get the radar set up properly again. As a result, their radars are permanently out of tune.

Information on about different functions and how they are normally accessed. Also about specific types of equipment such as broadband radar and doppler radar, which are only manufactured by a couple of companies at this point.

This seminar removes the fear of radar. After completion of the seminar, students will be able to set up their radars for best results and interpret the display under challenging conditions.
