Sailing The Salish Sea:  Saturday July 28 - Thursday August 2, 2018

The annual Peterson Cup Cruising Rally is 5 days of local cruising, playing on boats, and generally having fun in keeping with Lex Peterson's original goal for the rally ("do it and get out there BCA sailors while you can") and BCA's core values:  Sharing, Community, Adventure and Inspiration.  The Peterson Cup is the perpetual award that is given to the most deserving skipper of the rally. The winner is decided by group concensus, with presentation of said cup at the August Rendezvous.

Anyone who enjoys exploring local waters with like-minded friends. There can be big boats, small boats, power & sail, families, solo sailors and all genders present. Everyone is welcome.

The five-day rally historically begins off Protection Island (where former Past Commodore Lex Peterson lived). By means of a group passage planning activity at the Dinghy Dock Pub on the Saturday, the first day's voyage, and the start line, is planned. Because the rally is mostly group-organized, the next four days course will be decided during the daily, post-voyage Appy-Hour aboard a participant's vessel. The rally traditionally ends within a day's sail of the August Rendezvous which this year takes place on Aug 4-6 at Port Browning, Pender Island.

Saturday, July 28 - Thursday, August 2.  The cruising rally starts with a planning meeting at 4pm on July 28 in the Dinghy Dock Pub, on Protection Island, Nanaimo, and ends in general proximity to the August Rendezous on Thursday, August 2.

The idea is to sail (or motor if you're a power boater) from anchorage to anchorage - not to marinas, docks or towns. Bring sufficient provisions and libations for the duration of the rally.  At the end of the day's sail / race / gentle motor passage, everyone gets together to share appies aboard someone's boat.  In past events, there have been true races, but these days it is mostly like BCA cruising: wandering where you will, with boats then collecting again, safe at anchor, as friends, to share stories and tall tales in the evening.

Please click the orange Register button above to confirm your intent to participate.

$10, payable to the PCCR coordinator when you join the rally.  This modest fee covers organization expenses, including daily prizes for remarkable moments and/or acts of seamanship...

Be open to the moment! Be flexible! Some previous PCCR Captains have added themes, or pretended to be in sailing conditions found on other seas.
Theme T-Shirts & Tea Towels have on occasion been produced by Feather Mills, Rob & Grace Dodge and Ken Christie. If available this year, these are an extra cost - approximately $25.
