Favorite Galley Gadgets 7 D. Baker When we left for off shore we too had an electric yogurt maker.  We abandoned it when we figured out how easy it is to make yogurt using stainless steel thermoses.  Just heat up the milk to near boiling, cool the milk to 45 deg. C., pour boiling water into the thermoses (we do two at a time), drain the boiling water and add the milk.  Put in a tablespoon or zoo of active yogurt and leave this for about 6 hours.  If you are in a cold climate like ours, I wrap the thermoses with a towel so they stay warm.  In the tropics there is no need for this last step.  Great yogurt every time!
