General Guidelines for Classified Ads:

Tradewinds Buy & Sell Forum is provided as a membership benefit. Below, are a few things members should keep in mind before posting an ad, both to maintain a useful Tradewinds online ad forum and to protect members from unscrupulous people who may read these ads.

Caution when posting personal information in an ad such as your email address or phone number. Tradewinds is viewable by the general public (although you must be a logged-in member to post). In addition to having your personal info harvested for spams, you run the risk of being contacted by someone you will soon wish did not have your contact information. While including your address or phone number allows non-members to respond to your ad, we strongly recommend that you limit your ad to members only and use the BCA Website for communication between buyers and sellers.

The safest method of establishing contact between seller and buyer is for the potential buyer to click on the member's icon and send them a personal message through the Website. Note that one must be logged in as a member before the sellers information will appear when one clicks on their icon.

Make your ad attractive. Include a full description and pictures. Including the price attracts more interest.

Take care you post to the appropriate forum. You stand a better chance of selling or finding your item if you do.

Commercial advertising is not permitted. Items must be boating related.

When your item is sold or no longer available, please post a sold message and advise a forum moderator to delete it. In order to reduce the amount of already sold items on Tradewinds forums, we purge ads EVERY 6O DAYS..

If you have an ad and want to repost simply copy it to your computer and repost.

The practice of notifying a moderator or posting IN BOLD CAPS a SOLD mention on the item's thread is still in practice. So please help keep forum info current for all members' benefit.
