Gorge Harbour on Cortes Island once again beckons BCA members to a late summer Rendezvous on the weekend of August 25-27, 2017.  Whether you're on your way home from summer cruising in Desolation Sound or maybe even north of Cape Caution or looking for a final fling before the school year brings cool autumn breezes, come  to Gorge Harbour to hang out with us and share stories and camaraderie with your BCA friends.

Following last year's wonderful experience, Amanda and Barry Glickman, Bluewater cruisers and longtime BCA members, have again invited us to visit their home dock (boat-access-only) for a BCA-sized Pig Roast on the evening of Saturday August 26.

Barry and Amanda hope everyone will be willing to help turn the pig on Saturday (it will take nearly 12 hours to cook), but if turning the spit is not your "thing", please consider volunteering to help coordinate breakfasts and/or an activity.  Contact BCA Commodore, Leslie Hansen, for details re those tasks or if you have any other questions about the Rendezvous.

Gorge Harbour is a natural harbour on the southern end of Cortes Island with a narrow entrance and plenty of anchorage for BCA participants in the western arm of the Gorge. The Gorge Harbour Marina Resort is available for those who prefer to either tie up to a dock or book cabin or campsite accommodations.

Tentative Schedule:

  • Check-in with local hosts upon arrival and pay the Rendezvous fee
  • Late afternoon Appy Hour on the dock for those who arrive on Friday
  • Informal breakfast on Saturday
  • Possible activity on Saturday afternoon
  • BBQ basting and turning all day (volunteers welcome,  nay, encouraged!!)
  • Pig roast and potluck approx 6pm on Saturday
  • Continental breakfast on Sunday morning
  • Forest walk
  • Boat visits

What to Bring to the Party:

  • Your own plates, mugs, napkins and cutlery to all events
  • Folding camp-style chairs
  • An appy to share on Friday evening
  • Side dish or salad AND appetizer or dessert to share on Saturday evening
  • Loaf, muffins or other baked goods suitable for a continental breakfast on Sunday morning
  • Your own beverages (we hope to have coffee available for the breakfast)

Please Remember:

  • Resources on Cortes Island (water, electricity, septic etc) are limited; please be responsible and respectful
  • Take responsibility for your own garbage disposal, ideally off-islan

Gorge Harbour Marina Services & Amenities:
