BEFORE YOU GO

The marina has reserved most of the docks and other facilities for BCA use on Thanksgiving weekend; however, we will share the facilities with other marina residents and the locals.

Please contact the marina and specify

  1. the nights that you expect to be at the dock
  2. how many (+/-) are expected  to attend the turkey dinner in the restaurant. ($25.00 per person includes dinner/dessert/taxes and tip – a great deal!)

CONTACT NUMBERS
Dock Reservation phone:  250-246-1443
Pub Phone (alternate)  250-246-3464 (for reservations after Sept 1st)
Fax: 250-246-1433
VHF CH 66A
e-mail:
marina@thetisisland.com

The normal checkout time for the marina is noon. The best time for arrivals is therefore early afternoon.
It is very helpful if you can advise the dock attendant when arriving, how many nights you would like to stay, particularly if it is different from what you reserved for.
Should your plans change during your stay, just talk to the dock attendants and they will do their utmost to accommodate your needs and wishes.

WI-FI/ Cellular
The marina has a WI-FI network that covers the entire marina area so you can check your email, get connected and stay in touch. It is available at no charge to moorage guests, who can obtain a log-in code from the fuel dock or the pub. Due to our location, this system has bandwidth limitations, so access is restricted to moorage guests and essential services use. The Marina asks that guests refrain from downloading large files (video). The system will impose automatic speed throttling on large bandwidth users.  We have installed a high power directional antenna, signal booster and multi-user re-radiator for cellular use. This system covers the pub and outside deck area. It does not extend to the docks. This is available for use by anyone; just come to the pub/deck and you can use your phone to make those important calls or just chat.

       Other Services

·         There is a liquor store and convenience store for those needing replenishment of supplies.

·         Need a Room with the Marina? - http://thetisisland.com/marina-services/accommodation.htm

AFTER YOU ARRIVE

  1. Register & pay with the marina for moorage and your turkey supper
  2. Please register with BCA host (deck/pavilion) and get your event schedule & tickets and info.  Registration fee is $5/person.
  3. Arriving after 11AM Saturday? – register with host boat Kaimana to get your package and information.

EVENT DETAILS

Drink Tickets – upon registering with the BCA Member and paying your $5.00 registration fee each person (over 18) will receive 2 drink tickets for wine/beer that can be used at the pub at anytime during the weekend. This is courtesy of the Calgary BCA Chapter. Liquor is not included and must be paid for separately.

SPECIAL EVENT – SAT. AFTERNOON – RCMSAR Ladysmith Chapter will do a safety seminar as well as offer boat tours of their new rescue boat.

Exchange Corner – all day Saturday – if you wish to sell/swap something – post your ad on the bulletin board (include pictures if you wish) and if anyone is interested they can contact you at your boat to see or purchase the item.  This eliminates the need for people to display and sit with their items in the pavilion as well as the need to move items in and out of your boat unless someone comes to take a look.

Boat Tours – Saturday Afternoon – we hope that there will be a few volunteers who would love to have members tour their boats and ask questions/exchange information.  This is a fun way to get to know your fellow members and hear about their experiences.

Saturday Pot Luck Supper - We will not be having a Happy Appy Hour before the Potluck Dinner on Saturday night as we have had some feedback that it is difficult to prepare an appy – participate in the happy hour then rush back to your boat to prepare a dish and items for the Potluck supper.  However – please feel free to come up early with your drinks before the Pot Luck Supper. Make sure to bring your dish, as well as your own lawn chairs and drinks, cutlery, napkins and plates from your galley.

Saturday Evening Presentation – We hope that we will get a few volunteers to put on a short presentation of past adventures on the water – anything is welcome and other boaters love to ask questions and get new ideas.

Sunday Morning Roll Call09:30 Sharp: Roll Call on VHF Channel 68. Please have your VHF radio turned on and up (low power) to check in, and make or hear any announcements. It's a fun exercise, especially if everyone is on the channel and can check in with fellow boaters and get the announcements for the day.

Sunday’s Pot Luck BreakfastTriple B – BAKE/BUFFET/BREAKFAST -   new this year and we hope that it will provide on Sunday morning what we missed out on the Appy Hour the evening before.  Please bring a dish (can be a breakfast item, baked item, buffet item, appy – anything goes) and your cutlery/plates/napkins etc

Scavenger Hunt – Sunday afternoon – we hope this is a fun new event.  Buddy up in groups of 4 or meet fellow boaters by putting your name in the hat and try to complete all the challenges correctly in the quickest time.  The information will be given out at the time of the event.

Sunday Turkey Dinner - Thanksgiving dinner is on Sunday night in the restaurant -- Roast turkey (raised organically on Thetis Island) with the usual stuff like mashed potatoes and vegetables, etc. Pay at the marina when you arrive.  The cost includes tip and tax.

Coffee and donuts on Saturday Morning and Monday morning are provided courtesy of the Calgary BCA Chapter.   As well as coffee at the Sunday morning Pot Luck Buffet.
