Since the Association's formation in 1978, Bluewater Cruising Association (BCA) has supported offshore mariners and aspiring cruisers. BCA now numbers over 1,000 members from all over the world, representing more than 500 boats.
BCA is a vibrant and active organization, holding monthly club meetings in Vancouver, Calgary and Victoria. Club nights feature presentations by speakers who have cruised or are currently cruising offshore. These presentations give members the opportunity to gain valuable tips on cruising offshore, share information and opinions and keep their cruising dreams alive.
Members who plan to head offshore in the next year or two may opt to join Fleet. Fleet meetings provide information on offshore preparation, such as provisioning, emergency first aid, exercise at sea, fibreglass repair, safety and navigational equipment, sail and rigging repairs and many other topics. BCA Fleets become close communities and often members rendezvous in exotic anchorages around the globe.
BCA hosts Rendezvous and informal gatherings (BURPs - Bluewater Unofficial Rendezvous Places) throughout the year at various locations in British Columbia's Gulf Islands. Race Week culminates in the August Rendezvous, which traditionally is the time when the current Fleet is wished a heartfelt bon voyage.
Membership includes the Association's magazine, Currents, published 10 times per year, the annual Membership Directory and access to the members' pages in this web site.
